Ethiopia's first poultry laboratory

EthioChicken, the leading poultry company in Ethiopia, has achieved a significant milestone by opening the country's very first dedicated poultry laboratory. The laboratory is funded by Zoetis, a global animal health company.

The laboratory is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment that can accurately identify five different aviary diseases. Before the laboratory's establishment, EthioChicken faced challenges when it came to disease detection. The company had to send samples abroad for testing, incurring both time and financial costs. With the new facility, these delays are a thing of the past, allowing for quicker responses and more effective disease management. The benefits extend to the entire Ethiopian poultry sector, enabling swifter disease management, healthier poultry, and enhanced food security.
